Body-positivity tip of the day:

This is really kind of sappy and cheesy but whatever - it’s always worked for me.

Whenever you’re in the shower, or in the bath, or naked for whatever reason, take a look at yourself.

Really look.

Don’t immediately listen to the voice in your head putting you down - look at yourself as though your body belonged to someone else, a stranger.

What do you see?

Not that bad looking, am I right?

Try to make a little list of (preferably unusual, unique, or non-conventional) features and/or things you like about your body - or at least don’t hate, if “like” is too difficult to muster up. As many as possible. But you have to think of at least one, no matter how long it takes.

My list of the day:

1. I like the random moles and freckles on my body, like the ones on my collarbones/shoulders and thigh and forearms.

2. I like the “dip” at the front of my neck, above my collarbones.

3. I like the two little dimples I get at the base of my back, on either side of my spine right above my butt.

4. I like my bony-but-still-not-really-delicate ankles.

5. I like my muscles, and the fact that I can make them dance.

6. I like the little cowlick at the end of my right eyebrow - it’s quirky. 

7. I like that sometimes my veins are visible, particularly inside my elbow and on my shin.

8. I like my crooked hips and crooked nose.

9. I like my scars, even the ones I don’t have great stories for.

10. I like the way my thighs sometimes have a big of jiggle - it’s cuddly and comfortable and soft.

Then, tell yourself:

“I am unique, and I am beautiful.”

Believe it.

Because you are.

You are a beautiful person.
